Dear Eastside Families,
Thank you for a wonderful first month of school! We are so grateful for your partnership, support, and trust as we work together to help every student learn and grow. It has been exciting to see our students settle into routines, build relationships, and make progress each day.
Below, you will find our beginning-of-the-year literacy (reading) and math data. This information provides a snapshot of where our students are performing and helps us identify strengths and opportunities for growth as a school.
As we review this data, one message stands out: Attendance Matters. Every school day provides valuable learning opportunities that are difficult to replicate when students are absent. Consistent attendance helps students build the foundational skills they need to be successful throughout their educational journey.
In the primary grades, these foundational skills are especially critical. Research shows that students who leave first grade below grade level in reading often face significant challenges catching up with their peers in later grades. Likewise, kindergarten is a crucial year for developing early literacy and math skills. When students make strong growth in kindergarten and reach grade-level expectations, they are better positioned for long-term success in school.
We know that illnesses and emergencies happen, but whenever possible, we ask families to prioritize daily attendance and arrive on time. Together, we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to build the strong foundation needed for future learning.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping make Eastside a wonderful place for children to learn and grow. We look forward to celebrating the progress our students will make throughout the year. Go Panthers!
With appreciation,
Amelia Edd
