April Newsletter

Hello Eastside Families!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Spring Break! It’s hard to believe we have just 44 days of school remaining in the year.
As we move into spring, we are reminded of growth and renewal. Just as trees are growing new leaves and flowers are beginning to bloom, our students continue to learn, grow, and thrive each day. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Regular attendance is essential, so we appreciate your help in ensuring your child is at school each day.
Parent-teacher conferences will take place on April 22 and April 23. On both days, students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m. to allow time for conferences. Please look for a message from your child’s teacher with information on how to sign up.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Amelia Edd, Principal

PE with Coach T.

This month, we will focus on the fundamental skills of rolling, throwing, and catching! These skills will help our young students build confidence and coordination, and build connections with others. This lesson plan is designed to support a fun, safe, and appropriate learning experience that meets students exactly where they are. Over the next few weeks, our students will participate in a series of engaging activities that intentionally progress from rolling to throwing and catching, giving students ample opportunity to explore movement in a variety of ways. Each activity emphasizes success, exploration, and skill development, whether students are working independently, with a partner, or in small groups. The focus is not on perfection, but on participation, effort, and growth.
These lessons also place a strong emphasis on working with peers. Through guided partner and group activities, students practice important social skills such as taking turns, communicating, cooperating, and respecting personal space as they move and have fun. The goal is to help every student experience success with throwing and catching while fostering a joy for movement and positive interactions with others. We will utilize fun, interactive activities such as Frog in the Pond (similar to Monkey in the Middle), Target Practice, Treasure Toss, and Station Day to grow our skills and support our development and understanding. The academic language used will consist of: Roll, Bounce, Teamwork, Power, Control, Communication, Accuracy, and Encourage. To complement our PE lesson plans, our Recess Games will consist of: Kick Ball, Two Square, and Weight Ball Toss.
Go Panthers!

Parents Needed for Eastside Site Council

What Is the School Site Council?
Our school has a School Site Council, a team made up of parents, teachers, staff, and the principal who work together to support student success.
The purpose of the School Site Council is to look at school data, listen to the needs of our community, and help guide important decisions about school improvement and how certain funds are used to best support students.
What does the School Site Council do?
  • Reviews information about student learning, attendance, and school climate
  • Helps develop and monitor our school improvement goals
  • Provides input on how specific state and federal funds are used
  • Ensures decisions are student-centered and equity-focused
  • Brings parent and staff voices into schoolwide planning
Why is this important?
The School Site Council helps make sure that:
  • Resources are used where students need them most
  • Families have a meaningful voice in school decisions
  • Our school improvement efforts stay focused and effective
Want to get involved?
Parent participation matters! If you’re interested in learning more about the School Site Council or serving on the team in the future, please reach out to the school office. We’d love to partner with you!
