We need your input to help the Coos Bay School District develop a four-year strategic plan that will guide the district moving forward. Please tell us how we should best support our students.
A major part of creating the plan is getting feedback from students, staff, families, and community members about what is and is not as important to support students and staff in our schools.
Over the last two months, Superintendent Charis McGaughy has hosted 25 listening sessions with students, staff, parents/guardians, and the community to gather their feedback on what issues the district should focus on as we build the strategic plan. Through that process, we have heard from more than 250 people who told us what they felt the district was doing well and what things we need to improve on. From that feedback, we have identified 27 key areas those who responded felt were important to the future of Coos Bay Public Schools and our mission of educating students.
We are now coming back to our community for more feedback to help us further refine our priorities. This survey asks for your thoughts on the importance of the 27 areas identified through the listening sessions and offers you the opportunity to add any additional recommendations not included.
Directions: Please click on the survey link below (either in English or Spanish) and respond to the survey by clicking on your responses. As you go through this survey, we have broken the 27 areas into seven categories. For any category you think is important, click on the link to rank the specific areas associated with that category. You will then rank each issue on a scale of 1 to 10 based on how important it is to you. To save time, please feel free to skip any category you think is less important for you to rank. You will also be given the opportunity to share any additional recommendations at the end of the survey. Please note that the survey is anonymous, but we do need you to identify more information about yourself so we will be able to sort the feedback collected into different groups for comparison.
After we receive the results, the results will be shared with the school board and the district’s Strategic Planning Workgroup made up of district staff, students and community members. With their help, we will establish the vision, goals, objectives and outcome measures that the strategic plan will focus on.
