The Turkey Trot is back at Eastside School this year, with students taking to the Millicoma track November 22.
During the Turkey Trot, students who wish to participate will race against their classmates, with the top two runners in each class running again in the finals. Students who choose not to run will sit with the classmates and watch the races.
Every student who runs will receive a turkey charm for their lap bracelets.
Kindergarteners will run 50 meters, first graders will run 200 meters and second graders will run 400 meters.
First place in each grade will be a turkey, second place will receive a chicken and third place will receive a Cornish game hen. All of the prizes were donated by McKay’s.
Second graders will run from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., with first graders taking to the track from 10 to 11:15 a.m. and kindergarteners running from noon to 1:15 p.m.
Eastside will have a photographer taking photos that can be shared with parents.
The Turkey Trot day, November 22, is a normal school day and students cannot be checked out at the track. All students will be encouraged to remain in school for the entire day.
More information on the Turkey Trot will be sent home with students in the coming weeks.
